Michael Buck

Michael Buck was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He earned his BS in physics from the University of VIrginia and his MS from UCLA, where he studied plasma physics. For more than a quarter-century, he has designed, refined, and taught a wide variety of courses in mathematics and science at Chaminade Preparatory School in the San Fernando Valley, and advised activities including the High Sierra hiking club, before returning to Virginia in 2024.

He’s honored to be joining the faculty of the Renaissance School, where he looks forward to partnering with new colleagues, connecting with new students, and continuing to create learning experiences that afford a sense of discovery as well as mastery.

Michael lives in Earlysville with his spouse, Darcy. He enjoys cooking, cycling, hiking, reading, and playing with his miniature Australian Shepherd, Walter, whose appetite for fetch is frankly insatiable.
