Inspired, Inquiry-Based Learning
Driven by the creativity and unique experiences of our faculty. Subject work is interdisciplinary, differentiated, experiential, and typically designed around a portfolio structure: opportunities to share work with a real audience is a core element across disciplines. This can include performances on live radio, the feedback from prestigious judges at our annual Science & Art Exhibition, publication in peer reviewed journals, gallery shows at New City Arts, or internships at institutions like NRAO or WTJU.
Renaissance School provides thoughtful rigor, not busy work. Students are encouraged to pursue Distinction, a year-long interdisciplinary project designed by the student and overseen by at least two faculty advisors. Students may “double-up” on math, language, science, or art classes to accelerate their progress in areas of serious interest.
Additionally, students work with faculty advisors every year to prepare independently for AP subject exams. Many of our students are concurrently enrolled in university courses.
