Step 1. Visit Renaissance School

Renaissance School welcomes family visits by appointment. Classroom tours and conversations with staff are recommended. Call Renaissance School at 434.984.1952 to arrange a visit.

Renaissance School is located in the heart of historic Charlottesville on Court Square!

Step 2. Application and Support Materials

The application consists of three parts:

The presentation portion of the student interview is an opportunity to share something that the student is passionate about and inspired by, or that we wouldn’t know from looking at transcripts. The student should bring presentation materials to the interview and has the option to email the Director of Admissions ahead of time.

Step 3. Interviews

The student will interview with the Head of School and Director of Admissions during their visit.  This interview is as much a time to ask questions as it is to answer them!

Once application materials are received, Renaissance School will contact the parents to arrange a meeting with the Head of School and the Dean of Academics.  In this meeting, parents can discuss what a Renaissance School education would look like for their child specifically.

Tuition & Tuition Assistance

We know that private school tuition can cause sticker shock, especially if applying to a specialized school is an unplanned event. We encourage families to apply anyway! We offer tuition assistance, and we are actively growing our scholarship programs. It’s also important to remember that the cost is better viewed as an investment – Renaissance School students are awarded, on average, over $200,000 in college scholarships upon graduation.

Non-Discrimination Policy: Renaissance School admits students of any race, color, gender identity, sex, sexual orientation, nationality, marital status, disability, age, religion, or ethnicity in the administration of its educational policies, scholarship programs, hiring and admissions policies, financial aid program, or any other programs administered by the school.

Additional support materials include current school transcripts with other related documents, and two letters of recommendation. Renaissance School will contact schools for these documents.
