Successful college applications, acceptances, and transitions stem from successful teamwork between students, parents, and the college counseling process. Renaissance School hosts regular, free workshops for both parents of area middle schoolers and RHS students to help prepare for what can be an otherwise difficult or even overwhelming process. We invite RHS parents to watch the weekly newsletter and local middle school parents to sign up for our workshop announcement list or check back on our website to RSVP for one of these invaluable workshops with our Head of School.
Parent College Night for Renaissance Families (Free)
This workshop takes place once a year, typically in February, for parents of 10th and 11th graders at Renaissance School. Our Head of School walks parents through an overview of what students have been learning in Headmasters & College Counselling, including the college research process; the Common App and other college application formats; essays, standardized testing, letters of recommendation, resumes, and portfolios; as well as a discussion of scholarship opportunities and financial aid. Parents take home many valuable resources to help their Juniors and Seniors through this important process!
Road to College Workshops for Parents of Area 7th & 8th Graders (Free)
This workshop takes place multiple times throughout the year, and especially in the fall, at multiple locations, including at the various JMRL libraries. Our Head of School gives a broad overview of the college preparedness process to parents as they prepare their students for success in high school, and ultimately, success in getting accepted to the college of their choice. The Road to College: A Workshop for Parents, is open to all parents of students who may be new to the process of college counseling in high school and covers finding the right high school fit for their child, transitioning from middle school to high school, and understanding the college counseling process.
If you would like to stay informed about upcoming events at the school, please email our Director of Admissions on Admissions@RenaissanceSchool.org. Thank you!
