Step 1. Visit Renaissance School
Renaissance School welcomes prospective student visitation any day of the week. Classroom visits and/or tours are optional but recommended. Simply call Renaissance School at 434.984.1952 to arrange a visit.
Renaissance School is located in the heart of historic Charlottesville on Court Square.
Renaissance School admits students of any race, color, gender, nationality, or ethnic origin to all of the rights, privileges, programs, and activities accorded or made available to students in the School. Step 2. Application and Support Materials
The application consists of two parts: family information and parent questionnaire, and the student application which will contain your student essay.
Your student application requires a non-refundable application fee of $50 which will be collected after you fill out the application.
Additional support materials include current school transcripts with other related documents, and two letters of recommendation. Renaissance School will contact schools for these documents.
Renaissance School reserves the right to administer the Woodcock Johnson Achievement test. Admissions staff will contact parents to schedule the test if they deem it necessary.
Step 3. Interviews and Presentation
Once application materials are received, Renaissance School will contact the applicant to arrange an interview.
Interview is conducted as follows:
- Student interviews with members of the School administration and/or other faculty (20 minutes)
- Student presents in a chosen field (5-10 minutes). This brief presentation is an opportunity for the student to share a specific interest with faculty and may include anything from playing an instrument to describing in detail a successful experiment or research.
- Student writes essay while parents interview with Head of School (30 minutes).
Total interview time will be approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours.
Step 4. Tuition & Tuition Assistance
Families requesting tuition assistance should apply through FACTS Grant & Aid Service as soon as enrollment is being considered. Tuition assistance is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
